Locals for UK business indaba

- Sunday Mail Reporter

LOCAL entrepreneurs will participate at the fourth edition of the Financial Markets Indaba in London in the United Kingdom with the aim of attracting foreign investors to Zimbabwe.

The conference will see a variety of businesspersons discuss and share information on investment opportunities in Zimbabwe.

The indaba, which is being co-hosted by Thompson Reuters and Emergent Capital Management, also draws participants from the United Kingdom and South Africa. It is co-organised by Enrich Media and Platform League. One of the organisers, Mr Patrick Mzondo, a Zimbabwean entrepreneur and philanthropist based in The Caymans, said the conference provided a link between local businesses and foreign investors.

“With the aim to provide insightful and correct information on the state of the Zimbabwean economy to entrepreneurs across Zimbabwe, Africa, and the Diaspora at large, who want to apply practical business applications in their investments as well as in their business decisions, London’s inaugural Financial Markets Indaba is expected to be a window into two important worlds,” he said.

“The world of foreign capital providers and intermediaries, and that of capital allocators and operators in Zimbabwe.

“The Financial Markets Indaba is convening some of the most extraordinary individuals from investment boutiques, advisory firms, operators and fund managers in London and from Zimbabwe and South Africa.”

The first three conferences have attracted 112 speakers, among them CEOs, MDs and managing partners of leading finance-related organisations.

Zimbabwe has been improving its business environment, easing regulations and expediting the time taken needed to set shop.
