I’m also an orphan . . . we are in this together
MARANATHA Christian Schools pupil, Angeline Mupotaringa, donated goods to Danai Children's Home on 12 July 2017, as part of her desire to support the under privileged children and also as part of her Enterprise School project. She is an orphan that decided to assist and put a smile on fellow orphaned children as promoted by her school. Below is her article that teaches society to take care of orphans like she has been taken care of . . .
WE HAVE 1.6 million orphans in Zimbabwe, 78 percent of them live in poverty.
One third of the girls in Zimbabwe get married before 18 so as to earn a living.
The facts suddenly made me lose the bulwark of self control as the realization hit me that the people in today's society are turning a blind eye to the hardships and struggles of the orphans who were unfortunate to be in their current circumstances.
We should be aiding them both financially and spiritually whilst giving them adequate attention they desire so as to feel welcomed in society.
People should reveal that there are humans that care and aspire to be something they desire, for it doesn't matter where you come from to look back in time is boring.
However, men are like nails, they lose their direction and begin to bend as they grow. Let us come together as one nation and extend a helping hand to our next generation for they determine our future.
For these orphans know that happiness does not consist in things, but from the love and care people have for them.
Let's have a vision to develop and build up social confidence in youths that have been deprived of the necessary social care from the community.
One day they should be equipped with the right skills, experience and aspirations to succeed.
Do the right thing, it will gratify some people and astonish the rest.
I took this idea into consideration because I am also an orphan. I have never been deprived of any love from my extended family as they took the role of my parents.
I ventured into this project as a way to show orphans that we are in this together and they are loved by many. There is hope for the hopeless, I found the hope that even though I'm an orphan in real life, I am a loved child through the family I live with.
They have given me the motivation to show love to other orphans.
