MINISTER of Sport and Recreation Makhosini Hlongwane has called for dignity, respect and equality when addressing the disabled in sport.

In his opening remarks at the 29th edition of the Danhiko Paralympic Games, held at Danhiko Primary School yesterday, Hlongwane said there is need to be more proactive when addressing the plight of the marginalised group.

Hlongwane pledged to ensure that all sport and recreation facilities meet the high performance demands for all

Manhanga then scored what turned out to be the winner early in the second half to leave his gaffer a relieved man.

Manhanga finished off a superb move that saw lovely exchanges between Marvelous Mukumba and Peter Moyo.

“I am very happy with the win. It was a difficult match but the team showed character,” said Kaindu.

“There is still a bit of a gap with the team on top, at one stage we were one point behind. lt’s a bit Paralympics, highlighting how the ministry has gone an extra mile in operationalising its administrative framework through the enactment of numerous sporting programs.

Among them are the Community Sport and Recreation Club system, the Team Zimbabwe Selection Policy and the Zimbabwe National Fitness and Wellness Programme; all of which were sired by the adoption of the National Sport and Recreation Policy. open, it will be an interesting season and we will keep pushing.”

Rhinos coach Stanford “Stix” Mtizwa bemoaned the missed chances.

“I am disappointed man...of course we played well but failed to utilize our chances and got punished.

“Where we are now, we cannot afford to lose again because we can start talking of relegation,” he said.

With three minutes to play, Black Rhinos hit the cross bar through a Jameson Mukombwe free kick from the edge of the box.

Chiwunga converted the rebound but it was ruled out for off side.

Inconsistent Rhinos are now on eighth position and Mtizwa, who nearly got fired after a run of mid-season poor results, believes he knows where the problem is.

“Our finishing is bad, we need to work on it. Dominating games without scoring counts for very little,” he said.
