KELVIN KAINDU is looking ahead to a tasty Chibuku Super Cup semi-final after watching his charges dismiss Chapungu in a last eight tie at Ascot yesterday.

Former Highlanders midfielder Peter “Rio” Moyo’s 37th minute diving header and Tinashe Makanda’s strike on the stroke of half-time was all How Mine needed to progress to the semi-finals.

Chapungu pulled one back through Ricky Bota, who curled his free kick beyond Chikurupati keeper Donovan Bernard in the 57th minute.

The home side pushed hard for an equaliser but How Mine held firm much to the delight of their Zambian gaffer.

“Glory to God we managed to progress to the semi-finals of this tournament. We now wait to see our opponents in the semi-finals but it promises to be a good game of football,” said Kaindu.

“It was a good game of football, very competitive we dominated in the first half but in the second half Chapungu gave us very good competition.

“We had an injury-inspired substitution in the second half when Sakala failed to continue which changed our game plan in the second half.”

The gangly Makundika Sakala was replaced by Marvelous Mukumba at the restart.

Chapungu coach Tendau Chikuni felt let down by his strikers.

“We played well especially in the second half but we failed to take our chances,” said Chikuni whose side dismissed FC Platinum in the first round.

Veteran forward Phillip Marufu had Chapungu’s golden chance five minutes after the breather but he fluffed his lines in front of an open goal.
