Zivhu in ED vote drive

- From Walter Mswazie in CHIVI

CHIVI Rural District Council chair Dr Killer Zivhu is mobilising resources to assist potential voters to acquire national identity cards to enable them to register for the forthcoming elections.

Hundreds in Chivi failed to register to vote under a Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Biometric Voter Registration blitz that captured the data of 5,3 million people nationwide. In Masvingo province, under which Chivi falls, about 550 000 people registered to vote.

In an interview at the Chivi Village Zim-Asset review meeting at his homestead in Ward 31 yesterday, Dr Zivhu said: “All the 32 Chivi councillors will pool resources to help those who failed to register to do so ahead of elections this year.

“We are organising transport for all those who could not register under the ZEC BVR exercise. This is part of our efforts to make sure President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF win the elections.”

Dr Zivhu expressed satisfaction with the success scored under Chivi Village Zim-Asset projects.

He said for the projects to continue, Zanu-PF must win the elections, hence the need for every eligible voter to register before the polls.

“We assessed what we did under Zim-Asset and we are satisfied with what we did in the past five years. More projects will be implemented in the next five years so that we change lives in Chivi,” said Dr Zivhu.

Among the success stories are construction of more than 70 classroom blocks at various schools, new bridges and upgrading of roads.
