Unstoppable Ngezi win again

- Don Makanyanga in NGEZI

IF LUNACY was a currency, the guys at the Sports and Recreation Commission would be millionaires – they seem to be full of it.

Those in the medical field would say that the SRC is showing signs of dementia, a disease “marked by memory disorders, personality changes, and impaired reasoning.”

Sir’s assessment may appear a wee bit hush but if I may indulge you dear reader, bear with me for a couple more paragraphs before you rush to accuse Yours Truly of being an unfair critic.

Just how do you describe the SRC’s move to try and shut the door when the horse has long bolted at both Zifa and Zimbabwe Cricket? Ngezi Platinum Stars . . . . . 4 Bulawayo City . . . . . . . . . . . 0 TONDERAYI NDIRAYA does not doubt that his Ngezi Platinum Stars have the pedigree to win this year’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title.

Speaking after watching his team cruise to victory over Bulawayo City, courtesy of a Terrence Dzukamanja brace and goals from Marlon Mushonga and Tichaona Mabvura that stretched his team’s unbeaten start to the season in 12 matches, Ndiraya reiterated that his team is going for the big one.

“We have assembled a very good team this season and there is nothing that can stop us from winning the title, although I feel FC Platinum can give us a challenge,” said Ndiraya.

“I think the signs are showing (of winning the title) but we can only judge when we have the trophy. We made it

The build up to Friday’s SRC Press conference was preceded by the usual “it’s going to be explosive” hallucinations from the usual and hopeless social media hawks.

But it turned out to be another dump squib.

Without a hint of shame, Edward Siwela, the “Spongy and Reactionary Commission” chair, announced that they were finally trying to get to grasp with the Zifa issue. Why now? Well, apparently the SRC has been moved by “the considerable interest generated by the tenure of office of the current Zifa Executive Committee and other related corporate governance clear at the beginning, we are going for the title and the signs are showing but we will keep our feet down.

“I’ve said it and will say it now, we have assembled a good team, better than last season. We have huge depth, I hope we are able to manage the squad to keep all the players happy.

“I think the signs (of winning the title) are showing but we can only judge when we have the trophy.”

Ndiraya, however, felt the 4-0 score line is a bit flattering.

“With some bit of luck, these guys could have scored two goals, and these are the things we want to work on to plug those holes. But all the same four goals are a good sign of a team that is very offensive,” he said.

Bulawayo City coach Amin Soma Phiri also tipped Ngezi Platinum Stars to win the league title, saying there is nothing he could do to stop the log leaders. issues…”

So if there wasn’t some considerable interest in the Zifa issue the SRC was not going to act? Amazing. And now they are seeking to understand “the tenure of office of the current Zifa Executive Committee” when the soccer governing’s body election season is already in full swing?

What are these guys smoking? Could it be palm tree dipped in BronCleer or bronco as it is called in the streets?

The SRC is more than a tad too slow on the Zifa issue.

Even on the cricket matter, the SRC are out of touch.

ZC have already appointed an interim

“We played very well but Ngezi is a wellbuilt team. The team is championship material and you cannot argue against it,” said the Bulawayo City coach.

Ndiraya acknowledged the endorsement but was quick to highlight that there is still a long way to go.

“It’s good to hear a colleague, Amini Soma Phiri, talking about our title credentials but it’s not going to be easy to win the title, it’s still a long way to go, we will not be flattered. There’s a lot of work to be done, we are doing well but we still have a lot (of ground) to cover,” he said.

Dzukamanja put Ngezi Platinum ahead in the 15th minute before he completed his brace in the 81st minute from the penalty spot, after Michael Charamba had his heels clipped by Rainsome Pavari from a goal scoring position.

Pavari earned a straight from referee Ruzive Ruzive. coach, the match fixing matters were handled by the ICC and the racism claims are a joke.

The SRC is viewed by many as a toothless bulldog and they haven’t done much of late to prove their critics wrong.

The Zimbabwean body-building team at the Arnolds Classic competition in South Africa feels let down, all they got ahead of their trip down South were empty promises.

The last edition of the National Youth Games was a disaster, disorganisation was the order of the day and athletes went hungry.

I don’t know what Tawanda Mukhulani , the ZC chair thinks, of the guys at the SRC but Zifa president Phillip Chiyangwa

Mushonga scored Madamburo’s second goal of the afternoon in the 26th minute before Mabvura sealed the win in the 85th minute, tapping in Michael Charamba’s rebound.

Yet it was Bulawayo City who threatened as early as the second minute in one of their two shots on target in the entire 90 minutes.

Toto Banda was also guilty of missing clear cut chances for Bulawayo City, forcing Phiri to substitute the former Chicken Inn midfielder in the 38th minute. Teams Ngezi Platinum Stars: D. Bernard, K. Bulaji, L. Chakoroma, K. Murera, J. Nguluve (C. Agusto 71), T. Dzukamanja, D. Teguru (M. Charamba 71), T. Mabvura, M. Mushonga, F. Makarati, T. Chipunza

Bulawayo City: T. Ndoro, Z. Ngodzo, Z. Sibanda, H. Ncube, E. Mudzingwa, R. Pavari, S. Ndlovu, A. Ncube (L. Nyathi 47), C. Rupiya (T. Tavengwa 59), T. Banda (J. Kaunda 38), N. Ndlovu has left us in no doubt about his feelings. He recently wrote a letter to the Ministry of Youth, Arts, Sports and Culture.

In the letter, PC accused the Siwela and SRC acting director general Joseph Muchechetere of “unlawfully meddling in internal football processes.”

“It is very clear that Mr Siwela does not understand the fiduciary role his office requires of him as demonstrated by his illegal meetings with illegal bodies and further his daring but extremely risky attempt to communicate with Fifa without the permission of Zifa, which will palpably constitute a clear cut case of Government interference with an electoral process of Zifa, which will culminate in calamitous penalties against the entire football fraternity in Zimbabwe,” reads part of the letter.

Maybe Siwela and his team feel the need to justify their continued occupancy of SRC offices but hey, Prophet Makandiwa once counselled, “Kana usingazive zviri kuitika nyarara, enda kuchikoro chekunyarara. Runyararo Primary School.”

Yes Papa, if you don’t know what is happening zip your mouth lest you will be taken for a fool!
