Bouncers are a menace

-

THANK you very much The Sunday Mail Society for the story you published about the bouncers that are becoming a menace in night clubs and at events.

If I am going out, it is for me and my friends or family to have fun and I don’t expect to be bullied by some individuals who believe they have the right to get paid just for being bigger and stronger than me.

I remember on one occasion we bought a bottle of whiskey and two ice-buckets full of beers at one establishment that I will not mention.

Two bouncers, who do not even work at the club, came to our table and started offering their services as our personal security.

Upon telling them that we did not need any security, they asked if they could have a few shots of whiskey or a few dollars so that they could buy their own beers.

When we told that we couldn’t give them either our whiskey or any money, they were agitated and started threatening us, telling us that if we were to be assaulted they would not protect us.

They were acting like we actually owed them, that it was their right to get free alcohol and money from patrons.

I am sure we are not the only individuals who have come across such.

Now every time I go to the club and see all these people who have bouncers milling around at their tables, I wonder if they willingly pay these individuals to be their security or they might just have succumbed to the threat of being assaulted by these steroid abusing goons.

I think club owners need to look into this because the situation is becoming worse by the day. Simba Chimwanda, Harare
