MDC-T’S Nelson Chamisa is very reckless with words.

Whenever he faces crowds, no matter how small, he gets carried away and says whatever comes to his mind without giving much thought to the implications.

Even his embarrassed supporters seem to be losing patience with him, calling for him to stick to prepared speeches. The castles he has been trying to build in the air are simply not materialising.

Last week in Beitbridge, the MDC-T faction leader told the few people who had sacrificed their afternoon to hear him speak that he had helped Rwanda put together its ICT Policy after meeting his “brother, President Paul Kagame”.

He left people wondering of course, how on earth Rwanda could have benefitted from such a brilliant policy ahead of Zimbabwe at a time when Chamisa was ICT Minister. The stick that came from President Kagame was hard, he didn’t mince his words — there is no link between Chamisa and the booming Rwandan economy. But the ill-advised Chamisa insisted, begging President Kagame to remember their brief chance encounter at some conference years back. This time around, there was only silence from Rwanda.

This is the same person who not so long ago was left with egg on his face after the United States dismissed his claims that US President Donald Trump had promised his party US$15 billion if they win the elections.

Chamisa’s electoral campaign has been very clumsy and the learned Zimbabwean electorate has been unforgiving, asking the logic behind all his pronouncements. Meanwhile, Chamisa introduced his beautiful wife last week, ‘Mama Nero’.

For those who follow the sermons from our very own Bishop Lazarus, only a fortnight ago, the Bishop urged Mrs Chamisa to show a bit of support to her husband. No need to spell out your gratitude Papa Nero, we are a family newspaper that upholds values of the family institution.
