Only the insane support sanctions

-

EDITOR — The realisation that there are Zimbabweans who actually support the imposition of sanctions on the country is disheartening.

Why would you want your fellow countrymen to suffer?

Let us not be selfish, but rather fight for a common goal of developing the country.

People voted for Zanu-PF and the ruling party won in the recent election. Those who did not win must just accept defeat and try to make their own contribution in other ways.

However, the MDC Alliance would rather invite sanctions which are aimed at making the Government sink.

The irony of it all is that even their own supporters, those who voted for them, will feel the brunt of these sanctions. This leaves one wondering what these leaders, who do not care about the people’s welfare, will do if they were to be at the helm of Government.

I am just glad that it is Zanu-PF which won ahead of the MDC Alliance because it is evident that the opposition does not care if the people suffer.

Last week, VP Chiwenga even stressed the point that the Government was going to work extra hard to make sure that they turn around the economy despite the US sanctions.

Chamisa and company should grow up and prove to the people of Zimbabwe that they want to see the country developing.

If they carry on like this, they might not be able to garner any support at the next election. Andy Brunt, Harare
