Pick right people for Cabinet

-

EDITOR — I would like to say congratulations once again to President Mnangagwa for his victory in the July 30 election.

With the vast experience and high levels of competence he comes with, his triumph was just inevitable.

Now that his legitimacy has been endorsed by even the international community, it’s time to – in his words – hit the ground running.

As Mr President gets into office, may he remember to prioritise the biggest menace facing the youth – unemployment.

The recent developments in the higher and tertiary education sector are more than welcome, but we would like to see them being matched by massive creation of jobs for the thousands of graduates the country’s universities churn out.

Our economy needs serious fixing and my hope is that we will have a cabinet that has individuals competent to enable the recovery of our economy.

We cannot have Cabinet members whose only qualification is “being a woman” or “being youthful”, without the competence and expertise.

Corruption has also, for a long time, been the cancer responsible for the decay of our economy. Stiffer penalties should be put in place for Government officials involved in corruption.
