You are powerful beyond measure

- Hunt for Greatness Milton Kamwendo

WHERE you look determines what you see and who sees you. Open your eyes, ears and heart, and allow the light to shine in and illuminate your path to greatness.

The limitations you face are likely an illusion that you allowed to mushroom and settle in your mind fact and on your tongue as a plea.

Delete from your vocabulary words like, “I cannot, I will not, It’s too late, I failed, I am unable.” Do not make any limitation or constraint a permanent discouraging and disheartening fixture inside you. If you could not do it before, that does not mean that you will forever be unable to do it.

You are not your past, do not park there. If you failed last time, that does not mean that your life has ended and you are hopeless and clueless. If you are down now, that does not mean that you are out of the game. If you are broke today, that does not mean you have been sentenced to everlasting poverty. When you change your thinking about yourself, you change what you see in you and what you believe about yourself and the universe at large.

In you lies a tapestry of powers, bandwidth of potential and a bank of seeds and that if aroused, awakened and deployed, will make your life a living wonder. In this moment, you stand at the cusp of your greatness. Hold forth the light and dare to make a big and bold faith-informed move. Do not look outside you for validation, lest you think you are inadequate, ill-equipped and not the type that does great things.

Look inside you to see the wealth and wonder within. Do not look at others who flash by to confirm your inferiority. Look inside to explore your mission, awaken your mind and unstoppable spirit to the magic of thinking big. You are here for a great purpose, do not play small. You carry with you greatness, waste no moment thinking like a victim and behaving as though the world owes you anything.

On the Move

Stop waiting for the “Big Bang” change, lest you be left behind having turned into a pillar of salt. Get on the move and take a confident step forward. You only gain momentum when you are moving, not when you are complaining. A mind that is in park-mode sees the world as irredeemably broken, hopelessly stationary, despairingly regressive and gloomily chaotic. There is something great happening where you may be seeing nothing. Wait not, and waste not. There is nothing that you have at the moment that can compare with the vastness of the wealth within you. Compared to the greatness in you, what you are doing at this stage is just kids play. Compare to what we ought to be, we are barely awake! Rise to your greatness by remembering to love, give and take bold action every day. Do not accept the validity of any limitation or the veracity of any excuse. The limitations that you have are the ones that you allow your fears and ignorance to impose on you. You cannot allow the lost to convince you that your destination does not exist, nor the night to tell you that the sun has gone.

Look in - Look out

You are powerful beyond measure and carry within you an inexhaustible treasure that you can dig into for many generations. Mine this moment and do not wither in the winter. The starting point of all greatness is never outside you, it is inside you that the great giant that is seeking release resides. You cannot play among giants when you think like an ant. Let the scales fall off your eyes, else you will die blind to your greatness and what you can do or become. Look outside you and you will feel smaller, shallower and hollower. Look within and keep looking and you will be amazed at what you have and what you can do. You have a great treasure within you. Once you respect what is in you, the world will start to respect you because you walk a different path and you talk a very different language.

Mental treasures

Your mind is a special instrument that can do a lot; much more than what you have been deploying it to do. You carry within you a great treasure, unexplored possibilities and powerful navigational tools. Your mind is a potent weapon and shaping force. Invest in sharpening your mind and positively deploying it. Learn all you can about your mind and meanwhile use it for your advantage. Stop fighting yourself and holding yourself back. To what cause? Dream up big and worthy dreams, instead of letting your mind dwell on negativity and burrowing into woe and misery. Let great ideas dance in your mind because great things are seeking expression and release. When you innovate, you are unstoppable and competition is shadow dancing. Spend time fashioning great ideas, strategising and chewing on the bold steps to take. Faith leads to feats, while fear weakens you. Do not abuse your treasured mind by making its focus rest on toxicity - fear, bitterness, hate and failure. Your mind is a powerful navigational tool. There is no problem that you have that cannot and will never be solved.

Mission minded

Think only great thoughts and imagine great things. Intentionally plant into your mind the pictures to dwell on. Take care what you say to yourself because every word is an instruction and piece of code. You cannot be a champion with a loser’s vocabulary and a victim’s mentality. You cannot be greatness playing useless drama. If anyone listens to you for a minute, they can tell where you are going. You cannot make your way to the palace speaking like a beggar and behaving in matching style. Your words are charged with creative power, saturate them with positive intention. Every one of the words you speak is a seed you are planting. Do not let your life be colonised by invasive negative species that you irresponsibly plant with negative, bitter, abusive, and self-depreciating words. Scattering poisonous words is a spiritual crime of great magnitude.

For more than 30 years now, Dr John F. Dermatini has been on a mission to inspire and teach people around the world. Instead of just wallowing in selfpity, he embraced a vision of himself doing great things and blessing many people. Greatness has come his way. He started where many start. He had little and very few had ever heard of him. Instead of a complicated statement of excuses, he put his vision into words that his mind could see. He uses his mind and mouth to express what he imagines for himself in his professional pursuits. He prayerfully reiterates his statement of faith and purpose to himself and to everyone who will listen. He sees his calling as being a student and teacher of principles of life. If he were born in Tanzania, he would have called himself a “Mwalimu” (Teacher).

What you say daily determines what you ultimately become. Everyday, Dr Dermatini says these inspiring and positively infectious words, “The universe is my playground! The world is my home! Every country is another room in my house, and every city is another platform to share my heart-inspiring message! I’ll do whatever it takes, travel whatever distance, and pay whatever price to offer my services of love. I’ll set foot in every country on the face of the earth until this aspect of my mission is fulfilled!”

Take that as a personal challenge. Look at the passion that is burning in your heart and what you seek to express. Embrace a positive vision and everyday work to create great things. Take your stand in life and verbalise your vision and mission in a way that fires up the pistons of your mind and fuels your faith. Turn your mission into a powerful prayer that other people can adopt and pray with you daily. Whatever you pray daily, you gradually become. Stop giving endless excuses and wasting time playing defence when you are not on the field of play. Get on the offensive and move the marker forward.

Wired for love

Have no fear, harbour no hate and do not dwell on the negative. You are wired for love, engineered for exploits and endowed with seeds of greatness. Waste no time and do not tire because you have walked a long frustrating road. Challenge yourself to be more and do more. Stop spending all your life perking for worms like a chicken when you could soar like an eagle and stretch your neck high like a giraffe. ◆ Milton Kamwendo is a leading international transformational and motivational speaker, author, and executive coach.
