Every child is unique

-

WHEN God gives us children, we forget that we are only custodians of these little humans.

God would have trusted us with these tender people. Making or breaking them is up to us, so is raising them to be great individuals or just ordinary people. This responsibility of raising children is one among many that every parent must regard as sacrosanct. The medical care, education, security and love we give to them contribute to building these young ones into individuals who shall fulfil their intended purposes here on earth.

Parents can either take away their child’s intended purpose or nurture it. When raising our children, let us remember that we are doing a job on behalf of God. That alone must sink into our hearts and minds so that when we look at our kids, we do not only see them through our human eyes but through divine eyes of love.

God expects us to raise them to fit into the assignment He has set before them.

Judges 13:8 says: “Our Lord, please send that prophet again and let him tell us what to do for the son we are going to have.”

This text above is not an allegory, but it is an example of a prayer that every parent should be praying. When God gives us children, they are coming from the spiritual realm to the earth where they are expected to fulfil certain assignments like what happened when God sent Moses.

Exodus 3:7-10 says: “I have seen how my people are suffering as slaves in Egypt and I have heard them beg for my help because of the way they are being mistreated. I feel sorry for them. I have come down to rescue them from the Egyptians.

“I will bring my people out of Egypt into a country where there is a lot of good land, a land that is rich with milk and honey. I will give them the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live. My people have begged for my help and I have seen how cruel the Egyptians are to them. Now go to the king! I am sending you to lead my people out of his country.” From the text above, it is clear that when God intends to have some things accomplished on earth, He sends children to be born to us for some of those specific assignments. Our ignorance of our children’s purposes on earth is det

rimental. One child raised well can impact generations and fulfil God’s mission on earth. We often think that our children should be good in academics for them to survive, but we are only raising children that will be survivors on earth without making any meaningful impact.

When your child is born, it is wise to seek from the giver of children who that child should become. Some children are meant to become future presidents but you are not serious about educating them in proper schools. All you are concerned about is getting by through this tumble and shaky economy and yet the future of your child needs you to properly school them in the right institutions that can instil presidential behaviour in them.

Your child is meant to be the next best world footballer, but you are forcing them to study science subjects instead of taking them to an institute that can offer them both academic and football training. God does not give you something and then hide the instructions on how to take care of it.

Let us be very observant as we raise our children. Each day, God will be communicating to us about our children and what He wants them to become tomorrow. If only we could pay attention, we would know what our kids possess. They are born with gifts and assignments that require an attentive parent to discover and nurture.

Many people who are adults now feel useless and are clueless about life because no-one helped them identify what God placed within them. Gifts need to be discovered, only then will you be able to stir them. When gifts become dormant, they expire. Paul told his spiritual son Timothy to stir up the gift which was in him. 2 Timothy 1:6 says: “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.”

The truth is that identifying your child’s gift and purpose is not a joke. Observe and over time begin to recognise some recurring themes and behaviours, then point out those themes to your child and affirm them as valuable assets, and then celebrate your child’s accomplishments when they they have done well.

When parents are intrinsically set on raising children in accordance to their specific purpose, the world would be a better place full of game changers and great history makers.

Some must raise children to become prophets, pastors, doctors, pilots, entrepreneurs, inventors, farmers, miners, engineers, presidents and governors, etcetera. Altering the specific purpose of your child might compromise their success in life and destiny. It is your duty as a parent to discover your child’s gift and nurture it. Jesus had a specific purpose. John the Baptist had a specific purpose. Your child has a specific purpose.

Quote of the week: The world will be a better place full of world changers and great history makers if parents raise children according to their specific purposes.
