Godknows John Zvekare on “Peterhouse touches off racism storm” —A very contentious topic. Racism is always subtle. However, let us not be hypocritical. There are some black parents who shun black private schools and want to send their children to schools where there are white learners.

They speak disparagingly of black schools as having low standards, in spite of the very good pass rate. When they experience racism at the so-called white schools, they cry foul and complain that there is racism. I am not saying racism is justified, but let us start by embracing our blackness. There are schools whose entire administrative set-up is black, but they approximate to what they call white standards. At such schools, they want to be more English than the English themselves. They pursue white elitist sporting disciplines such as rugby, cricket and there are no indigenous languages. Who is to blame there? Our sin is that of loving too much of white things at the expense of our blackness.

Pardon Muyambo on “Peterhouse touches off racism storm” — Vabereki, please do not subject your children to such traumatic experiences. There are several of our own schools throughout the country. For current students, please if you are undergoing this, ask your parents to transfer you immediately. It is not worth it! Vasiyei vakadaro.
