@mtingwendejacob on“Zimsec proposes January exam dates” — Proposing dates like this is good and critical for planning purposes but these dates ought to be based on some mathematical simulation model showing the likely infection rate of the period leading to the proposed dates.

Murah Regalo Pablo on “22 Cimas staffers test Covid-19” — This highlights the importance of working from home and closing all congested offices and banking halls. It’s sad. Once employees are at work they will relax and take off face masks.

Taonaziso Chowa on “Gono clarifies farm mechanisation” — It is good to hear from the horse’s mouth and I am glad that Dr Gono has responded. Farm mechanisation is very important and it is good that the Government took the initiative and I would like to believe that the farmers who applied and benefited were assessed. It is indeed defamatory for Dr Magaisa to name beneficiaries selectively when the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (Debt Assumption) Act, 2015 was passed to provide for the settlement of certain liabilities incurred by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, and to provide for matters connected with or incidental to the foregoing.

This was done by a joint ZANU PF and MDC Parliament in a GNU of which Dr Magaisa was part of (Enacted by the Parliament and the President of Zimbabwe) and under the old dispensation. What the Government did is a common gesture towards debt write-offs for Higher Education, Council Debts. It is unfortunate for a man of such esteemed stature to see only the costs and not the benefits of machinery which is present and still serving our country’s food security goals and be blind to the two decades old costs of ZDERA sanctions. My question is why now?
