MORE than 1 200 people have now been infected by Covid-19 in Harare, the new Zimbabwean epicentre, after the dramatic jump in confirmed infections at the weekend.
Tuesday
The Global Compensation Deed Agreement between the Government and white former farmers whose land was expropriated under land reform makes it clear that there will be no compensation for the land itself, but, as laid down in the Zimbabwean Constitution and law, there will be compensation for improvements, assets and land clearing costs.
Wednesday
Despite several hurdles on the country’s economic revival path in the form of natural disasters, successive droughts, divisive opposition politics and foreign economic aggression, the country will ultimately emerge victorious, President Mnangagwa has said.

Political parties should be placed under a uniform code of conduct, hate speech should be banned and campaigning against Zimbabwe criminalised, the Cabinet Committee on National Peace and Reconciliation has recommended.
Cabinet approved the recommendations, but there are parliamentary processes to follow to effect any legal changes, starting with a presentation by committee chairperson Vice President Kembo Mohadi to Parliament
Friday
The entire Zesa Holdings board, including executive chairperson Dr Sydney Gata, has been suspended by President Mnangagwa, with the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) given four weeks to conclude investigations into corruption allegations against the board.
The board was appointed last year to lead the turnaround of Zesa, but there have been corruption allegations levelled against the chairperson, the board and some executive staff.
