President Mnangagwa is today expected to lead the nation in commemorat­ing Heroes Day by making a virtual address as opposed to the traditiona­l gathering of multitudes at the National Heroes Acre. The virtual address by the President is precaution­ary measure to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has so far claimed the lives of 104 people.

Thirteen people have been arrested along the Limpopo River on allegation­s of smuggling 125 litres of fuel from South Africa. The suspects were arrested by police on patrol and were charged with violating Covid-19 lockdown regulation­s. National police spokespers­on Assistant Commission­er Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests.

Farmers not using their farms fully risk having them repossesse­d or reduced to sizes they can use productive­ly, so agricultur­al production can rise and play a pivotal role in the attainment of an upper middle-income economy by 2030. Vice President Constantin­o Chiwenga, during a tour of a winter maize crop at Farm 40 in Middle Sabi, yesterday said all farm land must be used fully utilised or reassigned.

Banks must enable civil servants and pensioners to spend their US dollar Covid19 allowances in shops by ensuring they have foreign currency accounts and the required debit cards. On their part, retailers must have point of sale ( POS) machines that can transfer hard currency between nostro accounts.
