Till we meet again, Cde

-

THE situation has never been so abysmal for The Hedonist. We still cannot believe the ‘terminator’ they called Munyaradzi “Jackson” Musarurwa is gone!

Some people are just so full of life that when you look at them, you feel they are immortal.

Jackson also known as Mdhara Jackalo was one such character.

The bodybuilder, businessman, farmer, actor, socialite and hedonist par excellence was just a marvel to be around.

There was never a dull moment in his presence. The guy is certainly going to be sadly missed in many circles, showbiz included.

The Hedonist always had many encounters with the gentle giant as we shared one thing in common, pleasure-seeking.

We would regularly meet at different imbibing joints be it for live gigs or general club-hopping.

The late Jackson was so alive to developments in showbiz and often gave us useful pointers. He was also a unifier and easy-going individual.

Gosh!

The Hedonist is hurt to the core. Just when our tears were beginning to dry following the recent demise of music promoter and businessman Charles “Samukuze” Mukuze, the Grim Reaper has once again struck, targeting South African based music promoter Rodger Muzawazi and the affable Jackson. A dark cloud continues to hang in our treasured arts fraternity.

And we ask; why Lord?

Did Jackson have to exit through such a painful route, accident, when everyone the world over is battling to dodge the Covid19 pandemic that continues to claim thousands of lives? Was he missing his partner in “crime” Jose Monya who passed on not so long back that he decided to join him in the world yonder?

Now that Jackson is gone, who will save us from the menacing “mamonya” when normalcy returns in showbiz, post-Covid-19 era? We know you did not like bullies. Who will give us those mints or bubble gums for breath freshening while gulping that precious liquid during our pleasure-seeking moments? Who will deliver us those free wall punching counter attractions or muscle flexes at imbibing joints? The questions are just too many. This is indeed a great loss.

It is a pity that as the showbiz family we could not give this legend a befitting send-off due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions that do not allow public gatherings.

At funerals, the number of mourners is limited to not more than 50 people. But we say; fare thee well, comrades. Zvotopera shuwa! Mwari titireiwo nyasha.
