SOUTH AFRICA- based Warriors forward Kuda Mahachi has become the first Zimbabwean footballer to test positive for the novel coronavirus. Mahachi had the tests last week after receiving a late call from the Warriors technical team ahead of the team’s departure for the international friendly match against Malawi at the weekend. No official communication had been sent out by the weekend, but The Herald sources claimed the diminutive midfielder was notified of his status and urged to follow the protocols.

ZANU PF’s First Secretary, President Mnangagwa has warned senior officials against breaching party rules and regulations when conducting District Co-ordinating Committee ( DCC) and primary elections. The President convened a special meeting with provincial executive members, comprising youths, women and war veterans’ wings, where he warned leaders against manipulating the party constitution by imposing preferred candidates through vote buying and the use of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission ( ZEC) voters’ roll in conducting primary and DCC elections.

The suspension of the University of Zimbabwe Master’s Degree programmes in Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynaecology has been lifted following a lengthy engagement between the contrite doctors and Health and Child Care Minister Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga in Harare. The classes were suspended last month after an industrial action.

The era of load-shedding in Zimbabwe is over and the current power outages being experienced in some areas are a result of faults and vandalism, a senior Government official has said. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Power Development Dr Gloria Magombo said the country had enough electricity supply and was working on further increasing its power generation capacity. President Mnangagwa has fired Supreme Court Judge, Justice Francis Bere, for gross misconduct following recommendations by the tribunal set up to inquire into his fitness to hold the office of a judge. Justice Bere, who was on suspension pending conclusion of investigations, was fired for interfering with a Harare lawyer involved in a matter in which he had conflict of interest.
