Forget about dating and focus on schoolwork

-

ALOT is changing in the life we now live. Technology is advancing, employment opportunities are being created and many youths have been introduced to different stuff. However, while this is good, it has created some challenges, as some young people have been prematurely exposed to adult material.

In the process, some young people no longer have an idea of what is important for their future.

But what is it that most teenagers want to experience? In most cases, they want to know how it feels to be in love and dating someone. This is usually inspired by biological changes that occur at puberty.

Most learners start experimenting with dating as soon as they get into high school, while they are in their teens.

At this stage, they spend less time with their families and more with peers. It is during this period that both good and bad ideas are exchanged as they interact with friends. It is unfortunate that bad ideas seem to dominate. Very few people who date while they are in high school produce good results. In fact, many have failed or got expelled from school after breaking rules.

Unwanted or unplanned pregnancies have also been recorded.

Dating at school is not encouraged but it is happening. There is need for parents to effectively communicate with their children so that they make them realise the disadvantages of dating at this stage.

It is unfortunate that bad ideas seem to dominate.

While some believe teen dating has some positive aspects, history has often shown that it has more negative traits.

For instance, the intimacy may lead to pregnancies or spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

Some learners will lose concentration in class, while others may end up engaging in drug and substance abuse due to peer pressure associated with dating.

Resultantly, cases of depression, especially when one does not have adequate resources to impress his partner, have been reported.

I feel it is better to delay dating until one finishes school. There are more advantages in focusing on school work.
