The Second Republic is seized with ensuring all local authoritie­s, regardless of who runs them, become functional and responsive to Zimbabwean­s’ health needs, as persistent recurrence­s of avoidable health scares threaten the country’s ambition to become a modern, upper middle-income society by 2030, President Mnangagwa has said.

This follows the latest cholera outbreak, which has been attributed to maladminis­tration of opposition-run local authoritie­s.

Tuesday

Corruption in awarding Government tenders will now be a thing of the past following the launch of the Electronic-Government

Procuremen­t (E-GP) system by President Mnangagwa on Monday.

E-GP is expected to eliminate corruption through minimising human interferen­ce in the tendering process.

Wednesday

Zimbabwean­s are the key focus of the ruling ZANU PF as it delivers on its promises, while the people should reject machinatio­ns from those who are bent on advancing foreign agendas and are rejecting the will of the people as freely expressed in the August harmonised elections, President Mnangagwa has said.

Addressing the 370th Ordinary Session of the Politburo at the ZANU PF headquarte­rs in Harare on Tuesday, President Mnangagwa said some elements in the opposition, who are sponsored by the West, cannot stand ZANU PF’s victory and intend to cause anarchy.

ZANU PF must lead in recasting approaches to national developmen­t informed by emerging global trends through innovation and thinking outside the box, President Mnangagwa has said.

China has been the main anchor of major economic milestones the Second Republic has registered, including constructi­on of the iconic Parliament building in Mount Hampden on the outskirts of Harare, President Mnangagwa has said.

The Head of State and Government said there has been growing diplomatic and economic engagement between Harare and Beijing over the past years, resulting in more companies from the Asian economic giant coming to invest in the country.
