TWO Zimpapers staffers walked away with accolades at the Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officers Network Awards in recognition of their outstanding professional excellence in the media industry.

The Sunday Mail editor Victoria Ruzvidzo walked away with the Super Platinum Award in Professional Excellence at the awards ceremony held at a Harare hotel on Wednesday last week.

Zimpapers sales and marketing executive Mr Andrea Gozhorai won the Silver Award during the same event.

In his remarks, Zimbabwe CEO’s Network executive director Dr Tafadzwa Matsika said: “The world is fast changing; Zimbabwe too needs to catch up and become relevant.

“Every professional, especially CEOs, have to adapt or ship out; the playing field has changed.

“Artificial intelligence (AI) is taking centre stage.

“Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a powerful tool with transformative potential, not only in developed countries, but also in developing nations like Zimbabwe.

“As a CEO in Zimbabwe, understanding and embracing AI is crucial for driving innovation, enhancing efficiency and achieving sustainable growth.”

Dr Matsika said adoption of AI ensures transparency, fairness and unbiased decision-making.

“Establishing ethical frameworks and regulatory guidelines can mitigate potential risks and prevent unintended consequences, fostering trust among employees, customers, and stakeholders,” he said.

Speaking during the event, Ruzvidzo thanked her family for its support.

“I would really like to appreciate my husband in absentia for being supportive, as well as my two boys.

“It has never been an easy journey but they are always there for me, pushing and encouraging me in every step.

“My work is so demanding.

“I work till late midnight at times and wake up very early and come back again very late; and travel a lot. I am really grateful to say there was never a time when my husband complained, rather he supports me.

“This is a very precious moment and I thank the Almighty for taking me this far.

“I wish my husband and my first-born were here to celebrate with me, but due to work, they could not manage, only my lastborn did.”

Mr Gozhorai expressed gratitude to his team.

“This award came because of the hard work, commitment, dedication of all team members who had a role to play.”
