Behold the season of restoration

- Pauline Matanda

“HE will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.” — Job 8:21

Job felt God had deserted him. The sad episodes he went through made him feel rejected.

He had lost all he had, including his children and wealth. He had even lost support and love from his wife, who was supposed to be his number one cheerleader.

Job’s wife could not side with him; instead, she wanted him dead as she advised him to “curse God and die”.

One of the easiest things for people to do is to point out sin in another person’s life and judge their condition.

It is common for people to think that when a believer is going through an extremely difficult time, they must have sinned against God.

But looking at the life of Job, this was not the case.

He is reported as not having sinned against God; he lived an upright life. However, he still went through some horrible times.

It was testing time.

God cannot leave His own. Christ says He will never leave us nor forsake us.

He further says He will be with us till the end of the world. As long as you live, have this conviction that He is with you. His name is Emmanuel (God with us).

Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. Laughter is the best medicine and God is well aware of this; that is why He is bringing you laughter in place of all the pain you have gone through.

He is bringing laughter in place of tears. Like Job’s friend, Bildad, I have found it fit to tell you that “He will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy”.

Sooner or later, in the fullness of time, you are going to laugh like Sarah in Genesis 21:6: “God has made me laugh.”

We have entered a season of laughter.

You will soon forget all the stress you went through; you will be all smiles.

It is a season of restoration and the book of Job reckons: “God will once again fill your mouth with laughter.”
