Jah Prayzah, Macheso headline holiday festivities
CHRISTMAS is upon us once again!
Tomorrow, Zimbabweans will celebrate Christmas Day.
Traditionally, Christmas Day is celebrated amid pomp and fanfare.
Most local musicians had a successful year, overall, appearing to have bounced back from the devastating effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
A lot of the musicians will be as busy as bees tomorrow, entertaining large crowds of fans at various locations around the country.
The legendary Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton is expected to be packed tomorrow night when Jah Prayzah makes a live appearance. This is a must-attend for many Harare and Norton fun lovers.
Keen Mushapaidze, who manages Jah Prayzah’s affairs, said everything is set for the eagerly anticipated show.
“All the logistics are in place. It is going to be a fun-filled day. As is always the case, Jah Prayzah is going to give his all,” Mushapaidze said.
Alick “Baba Sharo” Macheso and his Ochestra Mberikwazvo will today invade Chitungwiza’s Tanza Centre.
In recent days, Macheso has been on a whirlwind national tour that took him to Mashava, Chiredzi and Chipinge.
The artiste promised his fans a memorable show.
“I earn a living through singing and dancing, and I will be dancing and singing for my fans. We have die-hard supporters in that part of the country and, as expected, we are going to perform in a packed hall,” Macheso said.
From Chitungwiza, Macheso will hit the road and perform at Nyamakwere Lodges in Mutoko on Boxing Day.
Dendera musician Suluman Chimbetu will tomorrow perform in Chegutu, his hometown.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail Society, Chimbetu stated that 2023 was a “very good year” for him.
He recently performed in Chegutu, where he is loved and revered.
The Chegutu community is still soaked in celebrations, following the promotion of a local soccer team, Chegutu Pirates, into the Premier Soccer League.
The residents will be celebrating Christmas and the promotion of the Chegutu Pirates simultaneously.
Chimbetu is looking forward to performing for his kith and kin.
“First and foremost, I would want to say that I had a fruitful year, as we performed in packed venues. Chegutu is my home ground and a special place for me. I always look forward to entertain the people I personally know and grew up with,” Chimbetu, said.
Retracing his roots, Peter Moyo will tomorrow perform in Zhombe, where his late father Tongai was born and bred.
“I dedicate tomorrow’s show to my fans in Zhombe, Kwekwe and surrounding areas. They have been there for me, even during tough times,” Moyo, who recently launched a new album, said.
Reggae and afro-fusion artiste Ashton “Mbeu” Nyahora will tomorrow perform at the Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare.
“We are busy with rehearsals as I speak. We want to give a flawless performance, as I introduce my new album to my fans,” Mbeu, who leads the Mhodzi Tribe, said.
Zimdancehall artiste Tocky Vibes, who is also on a nationwide tour, will perform in Kariba.
Freeman, another Zimdancehall musician, will be at Jongwe Corner in Harare.
Yesterday, he performed at Gulez Bar in Kwekwe.
King Shaddy (born Shadrek Kawire) will take to stage at Shamva Stone and Resort in Shamva, Mashonaland Central province.
Culture Love and Tyson Pamire will be the curtain-raisers for the Zimdancehall chanter.
