Juju claims fly as family buries two brothers in one grave

- Sources said Eugenia’s

A FAMILY in Chiweshe, Mashonaland East province, has been split after a bizarre arrangement that saw the bodies of two brothers being buried in one grave last week.

Part of the family suspects this was juju-related.

Eugenia Nancy Mashiri ordered the body of her brother Danny Mupanduki be buried in the same grave as his brother Itai.

The majority of the Mupanduki family is based in the United States.

Itai was buried in December 2021. He died in a road traffic accident in Florida.

Eugenia claimed it was Danny’s wish to share the same grave with Itai.

This saw Itai’s grave being opened to accommodate Danny’s body.

This has triggered concern among some of the mourners, who suspected juju could be involved in all this drama.

father, Musafare Mupanduki, is not happy with the strange burial arrangement.

In 2021, Eugenia made headlines for exhuming a coffin and burning it in front of villagers and mourners.

The exhumation resulted in the Mupanduki family being fined by Chief Mutumba.

“This is strange, indeed,”said one of the mourners.

Another mourner said:“We have never seen this in our lifetime.

“What is awkward is that this is the same person (Eugenia) who caused a scene in 2021 by exhuming a coffin and burning it.

“Now, she is the same person claiming to be in possession of her late brother’s will.

“We strongly suspect there is more to this if it’s not juju-related.”

The village head, only identified as Musiiwa, confirmed the bizarre burial.

He said he could not oppose the wishes of the family and that of the dead.

“Yes, it happened in my village four days ago,” said Musiiwa.

“It was strange indeed. One of the Mupanduki family members claimed her brother had told her that his wish was to be laid to rest with his late brother. The Mupanduki family can best explain the issue,” he added.

Son kills father, hangs intestines in tree

Tinevimbo Nyika (23), of Kufazvinei village, under Chief Chireya in Gokwe North, has left villagers in shock after he allegedly killed his father, ripped open the stomach and hung the intestines in a tree.

Tinevimbo struck his father Aison Nyika (69) with a metal rod several times until he died. He had accused his father of witchcraft.

He then pierced his parent’s stomach, pulled out some intestines and hung them in a tree before he fled from the scene. Midlands province police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident, which occurred recently.

Insp Mahoko said on the fateful day, Aison was enraged by witchcraft accusations made by his son and struck him once on the left leg using a metal rod.

“A scuffle ensued, resulting in Tinevimbo disarming his father and using the rod to assault him several times until he died. Tinevimbo is alleged to have gone on to pierce his father’s stomach, pulled some intestines out and hung them in a tree near the scene and fled,” said Insp Mahoko.

He said the crime was committed in the presence of Tinevimbo’s younger brother, aged 13 years; and Tendai Nyika, aged 23, who then made a report to the police, leading to the arrest of the accused.

Insp Mahoko urged the public to take family disputes to their traditional leaders for assistance. — Midweek Watch
