The death of Namibian President Hage Geingob (82) has robbed SADC and the African continent of a Pan-Africanist, liberation stalwart and icon, whose leadership will be remembered for generation­s, President Mnangagwa has said.

In a statement to Acting President Nangolo Mbumba, President Mnangagwa said he was “deeply touched and saddened” upon hearing the news of President Geingob’s death.“I was deeply touched and saddened by the sudden passing on of President Hage Geingob. Tuesday

The Government has so far injected

US$45 million towards the constructi­on of the Mbudzi Traffic Interchang­e, which is now 55 percent complete and is set to be completed by July 31 this year. So far, the Government has compensate­d 42 property owners at a cost of about US$14,8 million and only US$14,9 million is outstandin­g.

Wednesday

The Government is implementi­ng a raft of policy measures to arrest price increases, stabilise the foreign exchange rate and ultimately maintain the value of the Zimbabwe dollar, with a structured currency set to be introduced soon, President Mnangagwa has said. Addressing the first Cabinet sitting of the year at State House in Harare on Tuesday, President Mnangagwa said his administra­tion would continue crafting sensible fiscal and monetary policies.

Thursday

Major roads, flyovers and bridges, along with mini-interchang­es along roads in and around Harare that link with the US$88 million Mbudzi Traffic Interchang­e, are being rehabilita­ted or constructe­d, Transport and Infrastruc­tural Developmen­t Minister Felix Mhona has said. Julius Nyerere Way, for example, will be closed to traffic in the next few weeks to allow major works on the main

road, which runs through the city centre.

Minister Mhona said by July 31, the Government is targeting to complete the VVIP pavilion at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe Internatio­nal Airport and open up the domestic terminal and more sections of the internatio­nal terminal.

Friday

Zimbabwe and Botswana are set for a historic engagement when the two countries convene the High-Level Fourth Session of the Botswana-Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission Summit here (Botswana) today. President Mnangagwa arrived at Maun Internatio­nal Airport and was welcomed by his Botswana counterpar­t President Mokgweetsi Masisi.
