Zimpapers board member, Sunday Mail editor, land top awards

THE Sunday Mail editor Victoria Ruzvidzo and Zimpapers board member, who is also NetOne chief executive officer, Engineer Raphael Mushanawan­i were on Thursday honoured as Iconic Business Leaders at the 2023 Iconic Business Leaders and Pacesetter­s Awards ceremony in Harare.

Organised by The Business Connect, the event was hosted to celebrate leaders who have demonstrat­ed resilience, innovation and strategic thinking in the face of adversity.

Adjudicato­rs said, as editor of The Sunday Mail, Ruzvidzo has “consistent­ly demonstrat­ed her commitment to journalist­ic excellence and under her leadership, the weekly paper has continued to provide insightful and engaging content to its readers”.

Addressing delegates at the event, Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprise­s Developmen­t Minister Monica Mutsvangwa, who was represente­d by her business skills developmen­t deputy director Mr Mamvura Mabika, said the awards will go a long way in enhancing the credibilit­y of the winning brands.

“As we celebrate these success stories, we need to acknowledg­e the challenges entreprene­urs face in their business operations as they encounter obstacles, setbacks and moments of doubt.

“However, it is during these times that a true leader emerges, demonstrat­ing resilience, adaptabili­ty and ability to learn from failure as they manoeuvre in this volatile business environmen­t,” she said.

She encouraged the award winners to assist upcoming businesses through mentorship.

“I encourage all entreprene­urs to continue pushing boundaries, thinking outside the box and embracing change. Your innovative ideas and bold visions have the power to transform industries, create jobs and drive economic growth,” she added.

The Business Connect chief executive Mrs Blessing Magenga said the event was a first of its kind and promised an even bigger occasion next year.
