Monday

President Mnangagwa has expressed deep admiration for Botswana’s rich natural wonders and diverse wildlife following a twoday retreat in the neighbouri­ng country’s Okavango Delta. The retreat, hosted by his counterpar­t President Mokgweetsi Masisi, capped off a high-level meeting between the two leaders on Friday under the Fourth Session of the Zimbabwe-Botswana Bi-National Commission.

Thursday

There is a need to increase trade with friendly countries as a strategy to counter illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by some powerful Western nations. Speaking to the media after meeting the leadership of the world’s leading free trade zone — the Dubai Multi Commoditie­s Centre — at their headquarte­rs, President Mnangagwa revealed that the UAE government institutio­n is keen on marketing Zimbabwe’s minerals and being a gateway to the entire Arab region.

Friday

A Redcliff couple was found dead in their house on Thursday morning in a suspected murder case that has since led to the arrest of the couple’s driver and mechanic. The deceased couple — Mr Ken Chirashi and his wife Lorna — had just returned from the United Kingdom, where they were now based. Police said they were still on the ground carrying out investigat­ions. Redcliff Town Clerk Mr Gilson Chakauya said he was one of the first witnesses after he visited the house of the now-deceased couple that was well-known in the town.
