THE ZANU PF Women’s League is embarking on a drive to grow its membership to consolidate its standing as the backbone of the party.

Addressing delegates at the first ZANU PF Women’s League National Executive Conference for 2024 yesterday, the ruling party’s Secretary for Women’s Affairs Cde Mabel Chinomona said women were the mainstay of ZANU PF.

“We will ask our commissariat department to come up with a database of our members. We want to take stock and have clarity on how many we are as women so that we may make informed interventions and direct correct solutions, energies and efforts to maintain, attract and grow our membership base.

“We should multiply the membership for us to be a formidable wing and the backbone of the party’s mobilisation machinery.”

Cde Chinomona said the Women’s League was fully behind President Mnangagwa.

“This gathering also and most importantly should reflect our unwavering support and loyalty to our colossal party and the leadership, in particular His Excellency President Cde Dr E.D. Mnangagwa.

“I reiterate and commit to intensify our support for His Excellency President Cde Mnangagwa’s vision for the future Zimbabwe and commit to walk with him throughout the journey at the richly deserved and merited helm of the party and Government.”

“I commit the Women’s League to support our President and to safeguard the gains and milestones of high impact and citizen-oriented projects.”

She said the rate of sustainable social development and economic growth being ushered in by the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa is unmatched.

“We have to give the President the confidence and the space and zeal to perform. Our support and influence in this regard is crucial and cannot be overemphasised.

“What more would you want when you have at the forefront a great visionary of his stature and calibre who has also been announced as the incoming Chairperson of SADC? We are blessed to have such a great leader,” said Cde Chinomona.
