Healthy study habits key to success

IN today’s fast-paced IN world, learners are constantly exposed to distractions that make it difficult to study effectively.

WITH the emergence of smartphones, social media and online games, learners can easily be led astray.

The allure of surfing the internet or chatting with friends online can be too tempting for many learners to resist, resulting in procrastination and the neglect of their academic responsibilities.

Technology can be both a boon or bane for learners; therefore, it is important to use it wisely. To combat unwanted distractions,

it is important for learners to develop healthy study habits throughout the term.

Consistent study habits not only lead to higher grades but also cultivate vital skills such as time management, critical thinking and problem solving.

Learners need to understand the benefits of studying throughout the term, instead of reading solely for occasional exams.

One of the key reasons for studying throughout the term is to prevent cram

ming and last-minute stress.

When learners pace their studying over a specific period, they can break down reading material into more manageable units and allocate time for thorough review.

The pressure of having to memorise large amounts of information in a short period can be eliminated, leading to better retention and recall during exams.

This proactive approach to learning fosters a deeper understanding of the subject matter and a lifelong passion for learning.

Studying throughout the term allows learners to timeously identify and address any knowledge gaps.

If a concept is unclear, or if additional practice is needed, learners have the opportunity to seek clarification from teachers, engage in study groups or use supplementary resources to enhance mastery of concepts. Consistent studying promotes discipline and self-motivation.

By establishing a routine and dedicating time each day to study, you develop habits that will serve you well both in school and in future careers. The ability to remain focused and self-regulate is a fundamental skill that can lead to success in all areas of life.

As you realise that hard work pays off in the form of improved grades and a better understanding of concepts, you develop confidence, a sense of accomplishment and pride in your achievements.

This positive feedback loop encourages learners to continue exerting effort and striving for academic excellence.
