A time for reflection

- Tatenda Masora

NOW that schools have closed, I wish to use this time to reflect on how my studies have been progressing.

The first term has enabled me to have an idea of what I should expect come end of year when I sit my final Advanced Level examinations.

This is a time that I have been waiting for.

I have studied hard throughout my high school years and I am not leaving anything to chance.

With the help of my teachers, I know where my strengths and weaknesses lie.

As we take the much-deserved school break, let us bear in mind that this is a perfect time for all learners to reflect on their schoolwork.

It is said proper planning prevents poor performance.

With the clock ticking away, there is need for a proper strategy on tackling studies in the second term.

Since it will be winter, the weather will probably be unfavourable for studies in the early morning and at night.

This means most of the studying has to be done during the day.

In that regard, I will also use this holiday to come up with a study plan.

I have to balance between learning new stuff as I move towards our final exam dates, while, at the same time, revising my notes.

Fresh material is as important as what we have already learnt.

After all, exams are merely meant to assess if we have understood what we have learnt over the years.

To my colleagues, especially those sitting final exams this year, I encourage them to keep pushing hard. We have come far and we are about to reach our destination.

We have our destiny in our hands.

Let us do our work on time and avoid the last-minute rush. To those who feel there are outstanding areas that need to be covered, this holiday presents a perfect opportunity to do so.

Let us unwind during the holiday but, at the same time, remember that we have a mission to accomplish.
