African Sun Covid-19 corporate social responsibility initiatives
AS part of giving back to the community and helping in the fight against the Corona Virus (COVID19) pandemic, African Sun Limited (ASL) pulled together its resources to assist Covid-19 patients in hospitals and isolation centres.
In March 2020, Monomotapa Hotel donated linen worth ZWL$300 000 to Wilkins Hospital, one of Harare's biggest Covid-19 Isolation Centres. Holiday Inn Bulawayo provided linen and disinfectants to the value of ZWL 223,883 to Ekusileni Hospital, a facility Bulawayo Province was using for Covid-19 isolations. e Victoria Falls business community facilitated the setting up of an Isolation Centre for Covid-19 infected patients.
Various companies donated rice, mealie meal, sugar, cooking oil, sugar beans and other food stuffs. ese donations supported the setting up of the centre as well as aiding other vulnerable groups in the destination that have been affected by job loss due to the pandemic. In light of this plight, ASL donated fuel and linen valued at ZWL$114 650 as part of the Covid-19 Corporate Social Responsibility initiative through Elephant Hills Resort and Conference Centre, e Kingdom at Victoria Falls and e Victoria Falls Hotel. In June 2020, the African Sun Limited Hotel group joined hands in donating linen and crockery valued at ZWL$393 100 to the Midlands Province, which also acts as our guests’ connectivity gateway to our Harare, Masvingo, and Bulawayo properties.
ASL has made donations valued at ZWL$1 031 533 to date and it wishes to thank all its industry partners for their continued support in these unprecedented times. — African Sun Limited.
