- KENNETH MATIMAIRE

ZB Financial Holdings has used 66,6% of its US$3 million budget set aside for the refurbishment of its branches across the country.

The bank had initially utilised US$1 million to refurbish branches in Harare, Bulawayo and Mutare, among others by mid-2018.

“We used a further US$1 million towards refurbishments from the previous submission,” said the company head of corporate services, Shadowsight Kumbirai Chiganze.

Several branches are earmarked for refurbishment as the exercise gets underway.

“From the last update (2018), we have renovated the following branches; Mutare, Westgate, Douglas Road, First Street branches and will soon complete working on Joshua Mqabuko Nyongolo Nkomo (JMN Nkomo) branch in Bulawayo,” Chiganze said.

The bank, which used to have 61 branches excluding agencies has further merged several branches.

“We have also merged three Harare central business district (CBD) branches into one and another three Bulawayo CBD branches into one branch as well,” he added.

Part of the refurbishment exercise includes a refreshed ZB Internet Banking platform, a self-service centre, which is equipped with an ATM and internet banking section.

This service also works with a Quick Response Code to allow direct access to the bank's website and social media platforms.

“The modern designs of the refurbished branches which include installation of Digi hubs to cater for those that want to do digital transactions, will ensure that our customers get better service and have a new feel,” he said.

ZB has offered various loans to schools, churches, SMEs and corporates in different sectors of the economy to assist in the procurement of critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for their own use or as order finance for various tenders and orders.
