The institute follows a practice-orientated approach. Director of the Institute of Animation Professor Andreas Hykade explains: “Our way of teaching is basically about asking questions of relevance and creating a space for the students to come up with original answers. We also don’t want to teach a certain style of animation, but show as much diversity as possible. We think that artists with different point of views working side by side can benefit from each others mindset and create something new together.”
Third year animation and visual effects student Dominik Stockhausen says: “Filmakademie brings together students of almost the entire spectrum of movie making.”
