Tattersalls Hotel by Luchetti Krelle
Luchetti Krelle’s restoration and rejuvenation of the Tattersalls Hotel in Armidale, New South Wales honours the building’s Art Deco heritage. The design team gutted and restored all three floors of the building, artfully creating the impression of opulence and richness without adding extravagant and unnecessary adornment. The design celebrates the rounded edges that are characteristic of Art Deco style, from the banquette seats in the restaurant to the sinuous bedheads and arched steelframed doors in the bedrooms. Geometric patterns in carpets, designed in collaboration with Brintons, transition from vibrant and bold motifs in the public areas to more abstract forms in muted colours in the rooms. Original features, including timberlined stairways, pressed tin ceilings and a striking glass skylight, have been preserved. Photography — Tom Ferguson Luchetti Krelle — luchettikrelle.com
