Camden Valley Inn by KP Architects
Camden Valley Inn occupies a historic former milk bar, built in the 1930s, in the Macarthur region of New South Wales. Set on two hectares of land with views of the Razorback mountains, the building operates today as a restaurant and luxury hotel. KP Architects has led the design for its refurbishment, transforming it to take advantage of the rural setting while celebrating the history of the old inn. This was achieved by removing additions that had been constructed over the years to reveal the original architecture. Two new pavilions are positioned parallel to the original building, separated by a narrow, covered laneway that not only directs customers from south to north entries, but also delineates the new elements from the old. “We set out to ensure that the original heritage building and its rural setting were the heroes,” says practice director Kon Panagopoulos. Bricks for the project were sourced from PGH Bricks and Pavers. Photography — Scott Burrows
