Luna Wine Store by Miles Thorp Architects
◄ Located in the redevelopment of the heritage-listed Byron Butter Factory, the Luna Wine Store transforms a rudimentary commercial space through a series of simple moves. First the space was stripped back to the essentials, introducing a set of suspended lighting elements and leaving fire services exposed. The sales counter, refrigerated storage, and wine display were rationalized into a single prefabricated timber bench that runs from the entrance to the back of the shop before terminating with a half-round open end that encourages casual countertop discussion. Custom steel-frame furniture allows for a flexible seating and display zone at the shop front. A minimal palette of locally sourced spotted gum, steel elements, and brass echoes the character of the natural, sustainable, and minimal intervention wines on display.
