Laneway Greens Wholefoods Canteen by MODL

Laneway Greens Wholefoods Canteen in Melbourne’s Richmond, designed by Melbourne studio MODL, provides a series of dining experiences, from intimate to communal. Taking cues from Japanese design practices, a simple yet highly considered space provides a backdrop to the vibrancy of the fresh meals served. The central kitchen is enveloped by the main space, with curated openings in the custom solid timber cladding surrounding the kitchen giving users the ability to see the theatre of the kitchen, as meals are created before their eyes. Materials were carefully selected from local sources to ensure a sustainable outcome and to give the space a warm, authentic feeling.
