Rara Ramen Randwick by Aphora Architecture
Inspired by travels across Japan with the clients, architect Andrew Forsyth designed Rara Randwick with the intention of synthesizing the elements of a Ramen Ya experience but for a Sydney setting. A brief was established to explore the “thrifty” nature of traditional Ramen Ya design and the application of readily available, textural materials to create an authentic dining experience. The store layout is focused on connecting the diner to the theatre of the cooking. A black datum struck at counter height, present throughout the store, is a subtle gesture suggesting to the diner that they focus on what is above the counter.
