Baker Bleu by IF Architecture
◥ IF Architecture has created a minimal and textural retail interior for an artisan sourdough baker in suburban Melbourne. The design of Baker Bleu in Hawksburn Village “challenges the perception of bread as ordinary,” said the practice in a design statement, and instead, it is elevated to align with the artisanal values of the bakery. A rigid retail display system with a complementary palette of natural stone, stained timber, rough cast render and galvanized steel aids in creating a pared-back aesthetic. There is even provision for the bakery’s tasty morsels to be enjoyed in-store, allowing the customer to further engage and savour the lasting sensory impressions of Baker Bleu. “The materials … speak to the individuality of the bakery – [they] will patinate over time, adding character and personality,” IF Architecture said.
