The Eye Piece by Ricci Bloch

▲ Sydney optometrist The Eye Piece’s third retail offering, designed by Ricci Bloch, occupies a small, 38-squaremetre space with a high ceiling in Balmain. Featuring a robust material palette inspired by the industrial heritage of its surrounds, the space is clearly delineated between two gallery-style display units, one for optical eyewear and the other for sunglasses. A consulting room and dispensary/staffroom is concealed behind a mirrored box, with a velvet curtain screening the rear exit door. Granite, timber, brass and Venetian plaster are used to dramatic effect, providing the backdrop for the delicate, handmade products.
