Indus River

The Indus River is home to 25 amphibian species (of which 22 are found nowhere else in the world) and 147 species of fish. Hundreds of thousands of people bathe, clean, fish and take part in religious ceremonies daily in the Indus River. The aquatic life in the Indus has been severely depleted by pollution. Only 1,000 Indus River dolphins (Planista gangetica minor) are left.
