The Sky Experience

Do you notice anything strange in the image on the right? No? Neither do we. The well-lit room looks great, and you may be surprised to learn that the light streaming in from above is not natural sunlight – it’s from the CoeLux system. This is a lighting system that reproduces the effect of natural sunlight with a clear deep blue sky effect. Produced by the Italian company of the same name, CoeLux combines three elements to achieve the amazing effect: cutting-edge LED technology that reproduces sunlight’s spectrum, direction and brightness; an optical system that reproduces the blue-sky effect; and a millimetre-thick nano-structured material that recreates the Rayleigh scattering process that renders the light and colour elements so they appear natural together. Various studies have concluded that having a connection to the outdoors is good for inhabitants of the built environment.
