Sitting Lightly
The structure of the house sits lightly on the site.
The main structure consists of a branching concrete column on one side of the house, and the powder room and chimney shaft supported by an existing perimeter wall on the other. “I imagined the roof as a large sheet folded over the space, creating this airy space where the interior feels like the outdoors,” explains Matin. A skylight along the seam of the roof maximises natural light while narrow gaps between glazing and roof eliminate the need for air conditioning.
