The Great Indoors

-

Kettal is best known for its outdoor products, including a steadily growing portfolio of outdoor pavilions. But at Orgatec 2018 the Spanish brand debuted new products and materials that have been adapted to the design and functionality of office spaces.

The Kettal Office Pavilions were created to give shape to large open spaces. They could be used in any number of zones in the workplace context – from lobbies (to create an F&B kiosk, for example), to lounges, to meeting areas and service areas (such as locker rooms). In essence, the Office Pavilions were designed to optimise the experience of open-plan spaces, where there can arise the need to demarcate secluded areas and to control acoustics.

The movable walls of Kettal’s Office Pavilions give them great flexibility, as does the array of colour and material finishes available for walls and ceilings. These include aluminium, wood, fabric and glass. An integrated automation feature is also available, further enhancing the customisation options.

The installation of Kettal’s Office Pavilions in the Perth office of Australian bank Westpac perfectly satisfied the brief given to interior design studio Geyer, which called for settings and spaces for genuine conversations.

Aside from reflecting and supporting Westpac’s culture and brand, the workplace also needed to provide for wellbeing, diversity, choice and mobility with a high level of transparency and openness. Here, the versatility of Kettal’s Office Pavilions served Geyer and the client well.

For decades, Kettal has worked on developing a wide range of durable outdoor products, and now the company has applied this expertise to the design of products for corporate office spaces.

The brand has placed significant importance on comfort and functionality, as well as the use of high-quality materials that will endure the wear and tear of daily use. In Singapore, Kettal is available through Xtra and P5. Photo by Joel Barbitta (D-Max Photography).
