Tom Dixon’s Resto-Showroom
“There is nothing dustier than a conventional lighting and furniture showroom,” says Tom Dixon. So, during Milan Design Week
2019, he presented The Manzoni – a 100-pax restaurant that has since become his permanent base in mainland Europe. But why a restaurant and why in Milan? “In a world where everybody has a short attention span, food is one of the few things that can slow people down,” shares Dixon. And it was in Milan that he first learned of the connection between food, design and business. “I have observed that all the best decisions are made over lunch or dinner,” he quips. More than a restaurant, The Manzoni is an experimental space – a theatrical backdrop for the best of Italian food and British design, says the brand. It serves food and beverages in various settings furnished with Tom Dixon’s latest. The lushly decorated jungle room (pictured), for instance, is furnished with Dixon’s stainless-steel Spring pendant lights, Melt chandeliers, and Fat bar stools. In Singapore, Tom Dixon is available from Xtra.
