Resolving Global Issues Locally

The building responds ingeniously to the concerns of sustainability through simple, self-devised and local solutions that helped reduce the energy demands considerably – suggesting a way forward for appropriate, responsive architecture. A central courtyard and a stilt level allow for optimum circulation across the upper storeys. In addition, a low window-to-wall ratio, a night purging system and the use of native materials helped in reducing the overall carbon footprint of the building.
