A Breathing Building
The central ramp at the Bloomberg European headquarters acts as a chimney, conveying air up the atrium and out of the roof. The reduced dependency on mechanical ventilation and cooling equipment significantly reduces the buliding’s energy consumption. Smart CO2-sensing controls dynamically adjust air flow within the building based on occupancy. These and a range of other sustainability initiatives earned the building a score of 98.5 per cent against the BREEAM sustainability rating scheme.
