Framing Interactions

The new interventions provide the guests with opportunities for varied and vibrant interactions. They consist of three scaffolding elements: soi, a vertical service ‘alleyway’ resulting from an extrusion of each room’s sleeping pod that can turn into a vertical stage on special occasions; rabeang, a canopied ‘sidewalk terrace’ that grants a space for local food vendors to plug in and serve their street food; and nahng glang plaeng, a drive-in auto court turned ‘outdoor movie theatre’ with a balconies that allow occupants to dangle their feet. The theatre was inspired by the Thai rural tradition of pop-up movies during holiday festivals.
