Diabetic Living

We’re all individuals

- Alix Davis, Editor

Living with diabetes is a tough gig, and it can be especially hard because there’s no one definitive answer on how to best manage it.

Everyone’s diabetes is slightly different and everyone’s body responds differently to food and medication.

In every issue of the magazine we aim to provide you with information you can use to create a plan and lifestyle that best suits your individual needs. We provide guidelines and nutritional analysis for all our recipes, but recommend that you meet with a diabetes educator or credentialled dietitian to work out what kind of eating plan suits your needs best.

Healthy eating is a good idea for everyone, whether you’re living with diabetes or not, and we hope that our recipes provide you with both the inspiration and the information you need to make the healthy choices that best suit you.

This issue is packed with delicious recipes that are perfect for the cooler days. I’m a huge fan of anything I can cook in one pot (page 56) and will also be taking advantage of seasonal lemons (page 28) to put some added zing into my meals.

Our real life story with Neil (page 112) is definitely worth a read – he didn’t take his type 2 seriously until it cost him his sight. He went to bed one night looking at his wife lying next to him and woke up the next morning completely blind.

Today is the day you can make a positive change to your life and show diabetes you’re in charge!
