Summer sipping Cheers to warmer weather

Avoid the usual suspects for a classic cocktail or tipple with a twist

BRAMBLE

PREP TIME: 5 MINS SERVES 1 (AS AN OCCASIONAL DRINK)

3 tsp boiling water

3 tsp granulated sugar substitute 40ml gin

1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

Ice cubes, to serve

Crushed ice, to serve

2 tsp crème de mure

(blackberry liqueur)

1 lemon slice and a blackberry,

to serve (optional) 1 Combine boiling water and sugar substitute in a small bowl to create a sugar syrup, then set aside to cool.

2 Shake gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup in a cocktail shaker with a good handful of ice cubes. Strain into a small glass full of crushed ice. Drizzle the crème de mure over the top so it ‘bleeds’ into the drink. Top with the lemon slice and blackberry, if using.

The Australian Dietary Guidelines recommend both men and women limit their alcohol consumptio­n to no more than 2 standard drinks per day, with at least 2 alcohol-free days each week.
